If you just want your own website, right now, without having to read articles or learn anything, you've come to the right place.
As it says at the top, this site shows you how to create your own website in five minutes. There's no great amount of reading or learning to do here. Just a few pictures and descriptions, so you know what you're getting.
$3-4 a month.
Your website will look something like this example, but there are many other clean and professional (or more fancy) layouts you can choose from. You'd obviously add your own pictures and text.
Your website will run on the hugely popular WordPress system, which is used by 15% of all websites.
To work on your site, you click a little "Log In" link on your site, and then type in a password that will be emailed to you. You are then taken to the Control Panel (pictured). The Control Panel is all fairly obvious. You don't need any technical knowledge here. To create a page, you just click Add New Page. To change the layout of your site, you just click on Appearance etc.
Yes. A proper ".com" domain name is included free.
Great! It's time to sign up for web hosting and a domain name. This is the only thing you have to pay for in order to make a website. FatCow is a cheap, reliable web hosting provider, and is the host for the site you're reading now. The good news is that if you sign up with FatCow web hosting from this page, you'll get 47% off the regular price, and this site will also get a commission for telling you about FatCow. (Important disclaimer, just to be clear: This site receives compensation for the web hosting it recommends.)
Click here to sign up with FatCow, and/or ask any questions. If you have any queries about setting up a website, just click Live Chat, and you'll be able to chat with someone immediately. They'll be able to help you with any questions you have.
Once you've done that, go to the FatCow website, and click on Control Panel, if you're not already there. Click on WordPress, then Install, then Complete.
It takes a few hours for the internet to discover your new site at its proper .com name, so just visit your site at username.fatcow.com in the meantime. (Replace username with the user name you chose when signing up with FatCow.)
Feel free to to play around with your new website, and do whatever you like with it. The only thing I'd really recommend, though, is to (in your site's Control Panel) click Settings, Reading, and then choose one of your pages to be the new front page of your site. Otherwise the blog page will be your front page.
Thank you for reading. Have fun with your new site!
